Committee Co-Chairs

Victoria Hall Graham ’81
Vicky joined the board in 2000. She served as the Annual Fund chair for four years; she currently chairs the Budget Committee of the board; and she has served on two succeeding iterations of the Long Range Financial Planning Committee, examining our financial status in light of our commitment to institutional priorities. Formerly, Vicky worked with the asset management division of Dillon Read & Company, Inc. and she serves on the boards of the Buckley School and the Children's Museum of the East End.

John P. Reardon, Jr. ’56
Jack Reardon began his board service in 1990, during Headmaster Jerry Pieh’s final year, and he counseled two heads, Ed Fredie and Robin Robertson, about effective working relationships between the board and the head of school. Jack led the nucleus phase of the Challenge to Lead Campaign, as well as the recent study of athletics that culminated in recruiting our new director of athletics, Bill Whitmore. Jack has served Harvard University as director of admissions and director of athletics; today he is executive director of the Harvard Alumni Association.

Committee Members

Bradley M. Bloom
Brad has been a member of the Board since 2004. Prior to joining the board, Brad was a member of the Head of School’s Council and he participated on the Special Gifts and Annual Fund committees. Brad has served on the Long Range Financial Planning Committee of the board, which over the last four years has focused on financial strategic planning. Brad is a Milton parent; his son Ross is Class of 2006 and is currently at Harvard. His daughter Elizabeth is a member of the Class of 2007. Brad is the Managing Director of Berkshire Partners LLC, a private equity investment firm in Boston.

Antonia M. Grumbach ’61
Antonia has been a member of the board since 1990. She has served as secretary of the board, and she is currently a member of the Budget and the Academic Affairs committees. For over 30 years, Antonia has provided counsel to non-profit organizations as a member of Patterson, Belknap, Webb and Tyler, LLP in New York City. She has also been a co-chair of the board of trustees of the Teachers College of Columbia University. 

Michael S. L. Lou
Michael Lou joined the faculty in 1995. Michael has taught Chinese as well as history, and recently has focused his teaching in his discipline as a member of the history department. Michael was a member of the house staff in Forbes House for five years. 

F. Warren McFarlan ’55
Warren has been a member of the Board since 2001. He chairs the Academic Affairs Committee; he led the trustee Science Advisory Committee that developed a blueprint for advanced teaching and learning in science at Milton; and he served on the Long Range Financial Planning Committee. At the Harvard Business School, Warren is senior associate dean and a professor of business administration. Warren has served on the boards of Dana Hall School and Belmont Day School.

Carol Smith Miller
Carol has been a member of the Board since 2002. Her two children are Milton graduates, Alexandra in the Class of 2003 (Harvard 2007) and Matthew in the Class of 2005 (Harvard 2009). Carol served as chair of the board’s Long Range Financial Planning Committee. Formerly, Carol served on the board of the Brearley School, and she was associated with Goldman, Sachs and Company in municipal finance.

James P. Ryan
Jim came to Milton in 1998. He chairs the modern language department and has served during all his Milton years as a house parent in Robbins House.

Mark Stanek
A member of the administration since 2003, Mark came to Milton as Middle School principal where he successfully developed a strong, distinct Middle School program. He is responsible for leading the creation and implementation of an integrated K–8 division, working with a committee of Lower and Middle School faculty on this initiative. To that end, Mark has done extensive research identifying best models and practices of K–8 schools. Mark was selected in 2006 to participate in the NAIS Fellowship for Aspiring School Heads.

Laurel Starks
Laurel joined the Milton faculty in 1986. Laurel taught Middle and Upper School students for a number of years, and is now fully committed to the Middle School as a social studies teacher. Laurel also served as head of Forbes House for eight years. Laurel’s two children have attended Milton since Kindergarten and are now in Class II (Lyndsey) and Grade 8 (Tyler), respectively.

Frederick G. Sykes ’65
Fred joined the board in 1996 and currently serves as board secretary. He has served as chairman of the Annual Fund, he chairs the External Relations committee, and he has been a member of the board’s Long Range Financial Planning Committee. Fred is a managing director at New York's NWI Management LP, an emerging-markets hedge fund.

Jide Zeitlin ’81
Jide has been a member of the Board since 1995. He is a former partner-managing director of Goldman, Sachs and is now with The Keffi Group, a private equity firm in New York, New York. Jide chairs the board of trustees at Amherst College and sits on the board of directors for Common Ground Community, HDFC, Montefiore Medical Center and Tech for America New York.
