Finding resources for research in dance

Books

Start in the library’s reference section. The International Encyclopedia of Dance and books around it will be most helpful.

Use the library catalog to find books you can check out. Search for a person’s name, a dance technique/style, or even a time period.

Walk up to the second floor and browse the library’s dance section. Books about dance have call numbers in the 791-793 range.

Databases

Start with US History in Context for United States topics. It provides reference information, images, primary sources, journals, news, magazines, videos, and audio. Again, simply search for a person, place, time, or dance style. If you’re looking at international topics, check out World History in Context.
