COLLEGE OFFICE
CLASS OF 2008 NEWSLETTER #23
á April 29, 2008 á
* The deadline
for responding to colleges is May 1st (Thursday). Be sure to check whether it is a received-by or postmark deadline at each of
your schools and time the mailing of your response accordingly.
* You may only
deposit at one school.
Depositing at more than one school is a violation of policy which can
lead to acceptances being withdrawn.
Do not even think about depositing at more than one school!
* Final College
Questionnaires were due yesterday.
If you have not submitted the completed questionnaire, please do so;
email or hand it in to Mrs. Lombard ASAP.
* Final year senior
grades will be sent in June after commencement; that is the only mailing
planned for the spring. For wait list students, colleges may ask for spring
grades. If so, we will provide
them but there will not be a comprehensive mailing to wait list colleges.
Wait List Information
We know there are many wait list decisions. If you are wait listed, you already
should have sent back the card indicating your desire to remain on the wait
list (if interested) and followed up with a letter (or email).
1. Let
us know of your level of interest in any school at which you are wait listed,
especially if you have a clear first choice.
2. You
may stay on as many wait lists as you wish. If you choose not to stay on a wait list, let the college
know immediately.
3. What
does a wait list mean? The wait
list means that a college did not have room to accept all of the students it
wanted. Colleges usually do not
rank the wait list. If a college
goes to its wait list, the Admission Office will go back and re-read the files
and then make decisions. Your
level of interest and mid-semester grades will probably be major factors in
wait list decisions. Most wait
lists will not move until after May 1st.
Return College Visit Information
You are permitted to miss up to two days this spring to visit any
colleges to which you were accepted.
If you want to visit a college, read carefully and follow the
instructions below:
1. Talk
to one of the college counselors to get their approval of your intended revisit
plan. (We keep track of this information.)
2. Pick
up a Special Absence Form from Mrs. Lombard in the College Office.
3. Get
necessary signatures on the form and return it to Mrs. Flaherty in the DeanŐs
Office as soon as possible.
4. If
you think you need more than two revisit days, you will need to get permission
from one of the college counselors and Mr. Ball.
Have fun on your revisits!
Let us know how they went and where you think you will matriculate.
