SCHOLARSHIP NEWSLETTER #18
á May 6, 2008 á
There are two types of financial assistance for college. The first
type is
FINANCIAL AID, a combination of scholarships, loans, and work
granted to
you by your college if you demonstrate need for assistance.
The second type is MERIT SCHOLARSHIP, money given to you
regardless of
your financial need. Some merit scholarships are granted by
foundations
and can be used at any college. Many are granted by specific
colleges to
be used only at those colleges. Many target a specific type of
student.
Carefully read the descriptions below to be sure you qualify. If
you are
looking for college-specific scholarships, there is a blue binder
in Mrs.
LombardÕs office; please feel free to look at it. Below are some
scholarships that could be used at most colleges.
In addition, many scholarships require nominations by the school.
For
those scholarships, we ask you to nominate yourselves to us. Once
we know
who is interested, we will select the schoolÕs nominee(s).
We have more information about these scholarships than there is
room to
include in this newsletter. Please feel free to stop by the
College Office
with any questions.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT MANY OF
THE DEADLINES ARE QUICKLY APPROACHING
