COLLEGE OFFICE

CLASS OF 2009 NEWSLETTER #1

á February 26, 2008 á

Greetings from the College Office!  Ms. Jones, Ms. Klein-Ash, Mrs. Lombard, Mr. Skinner, and Ms. Solomon look forward to getting to know you.

We hope you found the recent college kick-off program helpful as you begin the process.  Please know that we are here to help you.  We will email you weekly newsletters; it is your responsibility to read the newsletters and take action when necessary.

* We are now posting weekly sign-up sheets for appointments with Ms. Jones, Mr. Skinner and Ms. Solomon.  Sign-up sheets are posted on the file cabinet in Mrs. LombardÕs office (first office on the right as your enter Straus), with new sign-up sheets posted every Thursday morning for the following weekÕs schedule. We expect all Class II students to complete the first required meeting with a counselor before April 7.

         For your first meetingÉ

o You will need to turn in your completed Student Response Form (SRF) with essay the day before your meeting.

á  The SRF is in the handbook you received at the kick-off program. If you prefer to use a computerized version, the SRF is posted to MiltOnline under ÒConferences Ð College Office Ð Class IIÓ and it can also be downloaded from www.milton.edu under ÒAcademics Ð College Counseling Ð Class II information.Ó  (The Parent Response Form (PRF), which was also included in the handbook, can be found electronically in the same locations should your parents prefer a computerized version.)

o Your advisor should also attend your first scheduled meeting.  (Please provide your advisor with a copy of your SRF prior to the meeting.)  It is your responsibility to find out your advisor's free periods and schedule a meeting accordingly.  If your advisor cannot come to the first meeting, he or she should plan to come to your second college meeting, which we expect all Class II students to complete before April 25.

o Remember, you must meet with two different college counselors for your two required meetings this year.

* If you want help with course selection, stop in anytime to talk to any college counselor who is available.

* The registration deadline for the May 3 SAT and Subject Tests is April 1. You should register at www.collegeboard.com.  Students are responsible for their own SAT registration.  (Milton Academy is a test site for the May 3 SAT and Subject Tests.)

* For those who plan to take the April 12 ACT, the registration deadline is March 7.  You should register at www.actstudent.org.  Students are responsible for their own ACT registration.  (Milton Academy is a test site for the April 12 ACT.)
