School Year Abroad has recently begun its junior year in Italy for students of Latin. Milton Academy students met in December with a representative from SYA. For more information, visit SYA.

Verbal Islands is an annual spring seminar (non credit) that meets on Sunday mornings during May. It is offered through the Classics Department to those students who are interested in learning how to use etymological studies as the foundation of lifelong vocabulary building and word awareness technique. Enrollment is limited and usually reserved for members of Class II.

Classical Heritage in English Language and Literature: This course, offered annually by the Classics Department, traces the words and tales of the Ancients to their modern form in vocabulary and literary allusions. Etymologies from both Latin and Greek will be introduced and will serve as a tool for strengthening vocabulary and the ability to distinguish fine shades of meaning. The course includes a study of Greek mythology and its legacy in English literature. All assigned readings are in English.
