Many people expressed amazement when I left sunny Southern California in 2002 to brave the winters of New England, but for me, being in Milton, MA has been like coming home. I grew up in Connecticut but moved to Atlanta when I was 16. I spent the next decade learning to love the South, especially North Carolina. I graduated from Duke University in 1992 with an A.B. in Sociology and a concentration in Markets and Management. After a year at a public relations firm in Atlanta, I returned to Duke and spent three years in the admissions office, then earned my Ed. M. in Administration, Planning and Social Policy at Harvard and moved out West to work as a college counselor and dean at a large independent day school. Living in Los Angeles was quite an adventure, and I’m glad to have had five wonderful years there, but I’m very excited to be back in New England again.

In a way, I have Milton to thank for two families.  I met my husband during my first week here, at faculty orientation; we’ve now been married for three years and just welcomed our baby son, Evan, in June 2007.  We live on campus in Centre House, my second family.  I am a big fan of being involved in the life of the school, and I find myself constantly surprised and delighted by the many opportunities there are for such involvement. In addition to being a dorm parent, I help advise the Self-Governing Association and The Asian magazine.  In the past, I have taught a section of Human Sexuality and Relationships, worked with the Asian Society, and served on the Faculty Committee.

My personal hobbies (and goals) include all kinds of puzzles – especially Sudoku, for which I’ve developed an unhealthy addiction – reading, foreign languages (my French and Chinese are very rusty right now, but I’d love to begin Italian), dance, and, of course, Duke basketball.

I’ve now been at Milton longer than I’ve lived anywhere else.  I look forward to what the coming years here will bring.
