This site reflects the work and interests of students enrolled in the fall elective course in marine science. The information presented was generated from their own field work, laboratory work, our frequent guest lecturers, or from topics of their own choosing. The site is a work in progress intended to give a sense of what our students choose to study. We would also like to present a small sampling of some of the areas of the vast field of marine science.

"How do you get to the great depths? How do return to the surface of the ocean? And how do you maintain yourselves in the requisite medium? Am I asking to much?"

-Jules Verne in 1869

"..it will remain forever the most vivid memory in my life, solely because of its cosmic chill and isolation, the eternal and absolute darkness, and the indescribable beauty of its inhabitants."

-William Beebe in the bathysphere off of Bermuda in 1934
