What is the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund is money raised each year to support the day to day activities of the Academy and benefits every K-12 student by supporting extraordinary opportunities as well as helping meet the Academy’s general needs. A vital source of expendable dollars, in 2007-2008, the Annual Fund will provide 10 percent of Milton’s operating budget.  Milton’s Annual Fund offers alumni, parents and friends of the Milton the opportunity to strengthen the highest priorities of the Academy through their annual unrestricted gift.

Why does Milton need gifts?

  • Tuition covers only 65 percent of the Academy’s annual operating costs

  • Annual Fund gifts and endowment income underwrite 26 percent of the Academy’s annual operating costs

  • Without the generous support of alumni, parents and friends Milton would need to charge an average of $10,000 more per student to fully cover the cost of a Milton education

  • The Annual Fund provides dollars that can be used now and gives Milton the discretionary ability to meet institutional needs and act on new initiatives throughout the year.  The Fund’s flexibility enables the Head of School to tailor support as circumstances change.

How does Milton solicit for the Annual Fund?

Each fiscal year (July 1-June 30) the Annual Fund mails solicitations to alumni, parents and friends who have not yet made an Annual Fund gift within the current fiscal year. These letters are followed by telephone calls from alumni and parent volunteers. Please consider making your gift early in the year to help reduce postage and telephone costs.  In addition, members of the Annual Fund and Leadership Gifts teams visit with alumni and parents to discuss Milton’s needs and priorities.
