The Parent Giving Program at Milton Academy includes the Parents’ Fund, parent giving to the Annual Fund, and the Class I Parent Gift.

• A component of the Annual Fund, the Parents’ Fund generates over 25 percent of the total unrestricted dollars raised.  The Annual Fund is money raised to support the yearly operating budget of the school - in fact, this year it will provide 10% of the operating budget. Last year, the Parents’ Fund raised $976,000 for the Annual Fund and 61 percent of current Milton families participated in this effort.

• The Class I Gift is a longstanding tradition at Milton Academy.  For 25 years, parents of Class I students have come together to make a significant gift in honor of their children’s graduation.  The Class I 2008 Parent Gift will support some of Milton’s highest priorities. 

• Every gift counts! Milton needs every family to help maintain the Academy’s excellence. On average, more than 70 percent of parents strengthen Milton’s tradition of parent giving each year. This year we are set on working toward 100 percent participation. Your contribution is a vote of confidence in the Academy and the importance of your child’s experience.

Become a Volunteer
Parent volunteers reach out to fellow parents for the Parents’ Fund and the Class I Parent Gift. By making connections with 10-15 families through phone, email or at phonathons in the fall or spring, parent volunteers are very important to the success of these gift efforts.  You can be a volunteer from anywhere. If it is more convenient, make calls from home, or send emails from wherever you are. Becoming a parent giving volunteer is a wonderful opportunity to meet other Milton parents and to feel like you are making a real difference in your children’s school.

Parent Giving Update

Parents’ Fund
As May has ended, it is hard to believe that the 2007-2008 academic year is coming to an end, as well.  As of May 31, 2008, gifts to the Parents’ Annual Fund total almost $900,000, which is only $100,000 shy of the goal of $1 million.  Currently, 50% of Milton Academy parents have supported the Annual Fund.  We would like to extend our thanks to each parent who has already made a gift to the Annual Fund.  Your continued support of the School is truly appreciated.

If you have not yet done so, please consider making a contribution to the Parents’ Annual Fund, as we grow closer to reaching our goal of $1 million, with participation from 75% of Milton Academy parents.

As you consider making a gift to Milton’s Parents’ Annual Fund, please remember that you have the option to make your gift in honor of your child, or a Milton teacher or coach who has been influential in your child’s experience at Milton.  The individual will be notified that a gift was made in their honor and each name will be listed in Milton Academy’s 2007-2008 Annual Report next fall.

Class I
As of May 31, 2008, gifts and pledges from Class I 2008 parents total over $930,000 with 76 percent participation.  Thank you to each Class I 2008 parent who has already contributed to the Class I 2008 Parent Gift, which is the Class I Endowed Fund for Faculty Support.  Established by the Class of 2008, the Class I Endowed Fund for Faculty Support has played a significant role in helping Milton to recruit, retain and recognize the dedicated faculty who stimulate extraordinary growth in students.

With Graduation rapidly approaching, please consider making a special gift to Milton in honor of your child’s Milton experience, or a faculty member who has been influential in your child’s time at Milton.  Your contribution to the Class I 2008 Parent Gift plays a crucial role in reaching our class goal of $1 million with 100% participation.
