A Living Tribute to Frank Millet

In June 2007, the Milton Academy community celebrated Frank Millet’s 90th birthday and 65th year of teaching at Milton.  Mr. Millet’s life has always been, and remains, focused on seeing the best in every student: the belief that every child deserves a chance.  In this spirit, he asked that gifts that members of the community were eager to give in his honor be directed to financial aid.  He wants worthy students, regardless of financial circumstances, to have the opportunity to attend Milton Academy.  In the last year, donors gave $1.5 million in his honor—most to financial aid—with a remarkable $700,000 for an endowed scholarship in his name.

The Frank Millet Scholarship will be awarded to a student with financial need who has attended Milton Academy for at least one year.  The recipient will be a student who demonstrates high moral integrity, is supportive of classmates, and has established meaningful relationships with peers and faculty.  The Millet scholar will be a student who, by virtue of his or her character and actions, is an integral member of his or her class and holds great promise as a leader.

The generosity of the Milton community affirms Mr. Millet’s unique role in our School and in our lives.  As he continues his work at Milton, we are grateful for those whose philanthropy he inspired, and we continue to welcome gifts in his name.
