Report from the President of the Board and the Head of School
Once again, you have powerfully expressed your support for Milton’s educational priorities. Together, you gave over $15 million in gifts and pledges during 2010–2011. Each of your gifts directly strengthened Milton’s ability to develop in young people a passion for learning that lives on forever. In total, your gifts make possible that excellent preparation for leading meaningful, successful lives, which has distinguished Milton’s long history. You directly affected faculty, students, academic and extracurricular programs, and the infrastructure that supports the life of the School.
Many among you, alumni and parents alike, were energetic volunteers. Your focus and drive helped Milton reach a record Annual Fund total of $3.73 million. Parents made a particular mark in this year’s success: Parents’ exceeded their $1.2 million goal; and 71 percent of parents made gifts, 15 percent more than gave last year. Giving from the Class of 2011 broke new ground: 100 percent of graduating seniors made gifts.
Every day, your Annual Fund gifts help connect curious and capable students from 29 states, 20 countries and greater Boston with faculty who help them set their sights high. Energized by the many opportunities to learn, lead, perform and serve, and inspired by their faculty mentors, our students carry forward the Milton legacy.
Your commitment, your vital financial support, keeps Milton strong. You enable Milton to focus with great confidence on defining educational leadership in the future, and we are most grateful.
