Head Coach: Paul Cannata

• 20 years of NCAA and prep coaching experience
• Has led Milton Academy over the last eight years from an inaugural 3-27 season to a perennial top ten contender in Division I prep hockey
• Six years as Assistant Coach, Northeastern University, member of Hockey East
• Member of Hockey East Coaching Staff of The Year 1996
• Assistant Coach and evaluator for the United States 2001 Select 17 Team competing as gold medal winners in Fussen, Germany
• Head Coach and evaluator for the United States 2002 Select 16 Team competing as gold medal winners in Prague, Czech Republic
• Evaluator, Head Coach and Assistant Coach of numerous Massachusetts and USA  Select 14, 15, 16 and 17 Teams competing in USA National Development Festivals in Rochester, NY, St. Cloud, MN and Stockholm, Sweden
• Director of Camp Cannata Summer Hockey School on the campus of Milton Academy
• Coach Cannata and his wife Laura reside in Norris House on the Milton Academy campus. They have two children (Caroline 7 and William 5).
  

Assistant Coach: Leo Shanahan

• Coach Shanahan has over 30 years of high school coaching, teaching and counseling experience in the Boston area
• Former player and graduate of St. Amselm’s College.
• The Boston Globe “Coach of the Year”  1991
• Hockey Night in Boston “Coach of the Year” 1991 and 1992
• Former Head Coach of Westwood HS, Dom Savio HS and Malden Catholic HS; 1998 Eastern Mass. Champions
• Coach Shanahan has two grown children and resides with his wife Theresa in Milton, Massachusetts
  

Assistant Coach: Gerry Burke

• Coach Burke is a former player/captain at BC High and Phillips Exeter Prep
• A former player/captain and 2006 graduate of Brown University
• Former ECAC All-League Defenseman
• Played two seasons in the professional ECHL and one season in the AHL
• Coach Burke will assist the Milton Hockey program in all capacities.

Goaltending Coach: Ed Gafanhao

• Coach Gafanahao is a former player and graduate of BC High and Northeastern University
• Former Head Coach of the Milton Academy JV team for two season
• Long time coach in The Massachusetts Select Hockey Training Program
• Coach Gafanhao will work primarily with the goaltenders
• Holds a Masters Coaching Certification from USA Hockey
• He resides with his wife Ruth and children Olivia and Madison in Quincy, Massachusetts
  

Strength and Conditioning Coach: Steve Darling

• 18 years of experience working with elite high school athletes and ice hockey players
• Coach Darling oversees all pre-season, in-season and off-season workouts
• Coach Darling will work with all players on improving their speed, power, strength, balance, coordination, agility and overall athleticism 
• He oversees our Milton Hockey Physical Testing conducted in September and June
• Coach Darling is a member of the Off-Ice Training Staff of the Mass. Select Hockey Training Program during the summer months
• Graduate of Northeastern University
• Coach Darling is the Head of Norris House on the Milton campus and resides with wife Kelly and two sons (Jack 8 and Henry 6)
