The Milton boys' soccer program is much more than one team. The
program fields four competitive teams and the record for those teams
is extraordinary. In the Middle School and the 3rd team (Class IV),
the participatory nature of the program allows for collaborative
development for all athletes. The JV or 2nd team at Milton is consistently
one of the strongest teams in the ISL. The emphasis on player development
-- within a structure that is consistent with the goals for the
1st team -- allows athletes to develop and learn the systems and
terminology that they will need should they stay involved in soccer
at Milton.
Juan Ramos, a member of the Milton
Academy math department will be in his seventh season as head coach
of the program. Juan joined the Milton faculty seven years ago after
a long tenure in New Mexico where he was a successful high school
and club coach. Coach Ramos has over 20 years of high school coaching
experience with over 200 wins and seven state championships in his
career. He belongs to several coaching organizations and keeps up
with the developments in the game through a number of publications
and his activities in the off season. In the last five years, Milton
graduates have gone on to play college ball at Brown, Princeton,
Dartmouth, Swarthmore and Hamilton among others.
As
soccer is a sport of growing popularity for all ages, the coaches
would like to encourage prospective Milton students who are interested
in soccer to check the calendar on the web and come visit a game
at Milton. We are sure you will find the competition against ISL
and NEPSAC teams to be exceptional and we trust you will enjoy the
brand of soccer we play at Milton!
