| The Milton girl’s varsity lacrosse season opener against Concord Academy was a great first outing for a young varsity squad. The Mustangs won 15-7 led by senior captains Alex Norodom and Alyson Friedensohn, who set a great tone early in the game. The Mustangs were able to control the flow of the game from start to finish. High scorers were Alyson, who led the team in scoring with 4 goals and 3 assists and Molly Mcdonald who netted 3 goals. Veteran junior Hillary McNamara had a great day dominating the midfield with consistent draw control, and also added 2 goals. Junior Casey Cortes found the net twice in her varsity debut. Freshmen Diana Perry and Hannah Jenkins, as well as sophomore Sarah Reilly each added a goal and an assist. Goalie Julia Hobbs did a great job keeping the defense organized with her vocal support. |

| The Mustangs traveled to Rivers to compete in their first ISL game on Saturday 4/5/2008. It was a chilly day on the turf as Milton fell 5-9 to Rivers. Milton struggled to possess the ball on both sides of the field, while an experienced Rivers team controlled the midfield and were able to move the ball quickly in their offensive end. Junior Hillary McNamara was the stand out Mustang player leading the team in assists (2), ground balls (4), caused turnovers (6), and draw controls (3). Her determined, scrappy play also allowed her to contribute one goal. Senior captain Alyson Friedensohn netted 3 goals, and varsity newcomer Melissa Mittleman found the net once. Junior goalkeeper Julia Hobbs is responsible for keeping Milton in this game. She managed to come up with 12 saves, several at point blank range, in addition to completing 7 out of 8 clears. Senior Marissa Simmons also contributed in the defensive end coming up with 3 ground balls and causing 2 turnovers, while captain Alex Norodom kept the defense organized and upbeat. |

| The Mustangs traveled to Newport, RI to play St. George’s on Wednesday 4/9/2008. After a long bus ride and a well fought battle the Mustangs went down 8-16. The Mustangs struggled to win the draw against an exceptionally tall St. George’s midfield. Maintaining possession of the ball continues to be a struggle for this young squad. St. George’s controlled the midfield and really used their fast break opportunities, catching the Mustang defense on their heels. Goalie Julia Hobbs did a remarkable job stopping over a dozen shots and maintaining a positive attitude while vocally organizing the defense. At the other end of the field, Alyson Friedensohn came up with 3 goals and 2 assists. Freshman Katy Bean helped out the attack with 1 goal and 1 assist. Molly Mcdonald, Erika Bach, Hillary McNamara, and Sarah Reilly each netted a goal, and Marissa Simmons came home with an assist.

| The girl’s varsity lacrosse team played an exciting, fast paced game that was decided with 9 seconds left on the clock against the Middlesex School in Concord, MA on Wednesday April 16th. The Mustangs went down by 3 goals in the first 10 minutes, but were able to shake out the bus legs incurred from the hour long ride out to Middlesex and battle back to a 4-5 score at half time. Milton was able to maintain their momentum due to scrappy play in the midfield by center Hillary McNamara and midfielder Diana Perry who were responsible for causing a combined 7 turnovers. Middlesex put in another goal early in the second half, but a patient defense, lead by senior captain Alex Norodom and goalie Julia Hobbs, whose confidence in net was a highlight of this exciting game, allowed Milton to net 2 unanswered goals to tie the score at 6-6. The teams then traded goals back and forth until Middlesex tied the score 8-8 with 2:22 left on the clock. Middlesex gained possession off the draw and confidently held the ball in our defensive end. Ever patient, the Milton defense was able to capitalize on a Middlesex ball handling error, and get the ball into the stick of senior captain Alyson Friedensohn at midfield with 19 seconds left of the clock. She struck out confidently for the goal and found the back of the net with 9 seconds left on the clock. This marks Milton’s first ISL victory of the 2008 season. Alyson Friedensohn was the high scorer with 6 goals and 1 assist. Hillary McNamara added 2 goals and 1 assist, while Erika Back contributed one goal. Juniors Melissa Mittelman and Molly Macdonald added 2 and 1 assists respectively. Julia Hobbs made 13 saves in goal and completed 6 of 8 clears. |

| The Milton Academy Varsity Girl’s lacrosse team hosted Tabor in a non-league game on a beautiful Friday afternoon on Voses Lane. The Mustangs controlled the flow of this game start to finish, winning 18-6. Veteran team members Alyson Friedensohn (6goals, 1 assist) and Hillary McNamara (2 goals, 2 assists, 2 interceptions) had stand out games, while some varsity newcomers made significant contributions. Junior Melissa Mittleman tallied 4 goals, while Sophomore Chardy Peyser recorded her first varsity goal. Sophomore Caitlin Keliher, just off the IR due to an ACL injury, netted 4 goals and an assist in her debut game. Hannah Jenkins added as assist, while Erika Bach contributed a goal and an assist. Veteran goalie Julia Hobbs had a strong first half in net, letting in only 3 shots and making 9 saves. Julia Solomon stepped in cage for the second half and made 4 saves. A decisive win for the Mustangs! |

| The Mustangs traveled up to Exeter, NH for a non-league game on Saturday 4/19/08. Bus legs seem to be an ongoing issue for the Milton Girl’s as they went down 0-5 early in the half. At one point down 1-7, the relentless Mustangs battled back to a respectable 5-8 at half time. Exeter took advantage of fast break opportunities, which Milton had trouble slowing down in the midfield. Goalie Julia Hobbs was able to hold the defense together and stop 5 point blank shots. She also completed 5 of 5 clears to keep Milton in the Running. Milton was able to gain momentum and played a very patient and controlled offense that eventually netted 14 goals and had Exeter frantic and scrambling all over the field. The Mustangs never let down, and if there had been more time, well, who knows… Milton lost 14-17 in a very well fought battle despite an early deficit. Once again, Alyson Friedensohn and Hillary McNamara lead the Mustangs in scoring and all over the field. They were able to find each other around the net and set up some great offensive plays. Alyson had 5 goals, 4 assists, and 6 draw controls. Hillary had 4 goals, 1 assist, 5 ground balls, 6 caused turnovers, and 4 draw controls. Caitlin Keliher added 2 goals and 1 assist, Erika Back contributed 2 goals, and Melissa Mittleman added a goal and an assist. |

| Milton had a tough outing against perennial ISL powerhouse Thayer Academy on Wednesday 4/23/08 on Voses Lane. The Mustangs came out very strong and played some tough defense in the first half holding Thayer to a score of 3-4 with 2 minutes left in the first half. Thayer put in 2 quick goals before half time, leaving the Mustangs at a 3-6 deficit. Thayer capitalized on this momentum, and took advantage of their speed in the midfield. The majority of their goals came off fast break opportunities, which Milton had trouble slowing down. 10 of Thayer’s eventual 14 goals came from 2 midfielders alone. Milton was able to put in 3 goals in the second half making use of a patient, composed offense. The final score was 14-6. Hillary McNamara was the high scorer for Milton netting 3 gorgeous goals. Alyson Friedensohn had 2 goals and 1 assist. Hillary and Alyson worked hard in the midfield and were able to come up with a combined 6 draw controls. Hannah Jenkins accounted for the last goal, and Sarah Reilly contributed an assist. Goalie Julia Hobbs made 7 saves and completed 3 of 4 clears. |

| The Mustangs had a great 14-5 win over Lawrence Academy on Voses Lane Saturday 4/26/08. Clearly the stronger team, Milton was able to control the flow of play from start to finish. The communication in the defensive end, spurred on by goal keeper Julia Hobbs, really fueled this team effort. Julia had a standout day in goal, making 11 saves and completing 5 of 5 clears! The scoring effort was lead by Alyson Friedensohn who had 5 goals and 4 assists. Senior Ashley Bradylyons had 3 goals. Erika Bach and Melissa Mittelman each added 2 goals and an assist. Caitlin Keliher added a goal and an assist, while Hillary McNamara and Diana Perry each added a pair of assists. Hillary had a great day in the midfield where she caused 3 turnovers and gained 3 draw controls. Erika Bach also worked hard for 1 caused turnover and 2 draw controls. Julia Solomon contributed in goal making 3 great saves and completing 1 of 1 clears. This win was a real team effort – everybody played and everybody contributed. |

| Milton played Brooks on Voses Lane Friday 5/2/08 due to an early season rain out. The Mustangs started strong, trading goals with Brooks early in the game. They were able to contain a quick, well rounded Brooks offense for the majority of the first half, only trailing 2-4 with 10 minutes left in the half. Brooks was then able to put away 6 unanswered goals, leaving the score 10-2 at halftime. Milton was unable to recover mentally, while Brooks netted 6 more goals before Milton put in the final goal with 4 seconds left on the clock. |

Milton traveled to Byfield, MA to play league power Governor’s Academy on a gloomy Saturday afternoon in some soggy conditions. Milton came out strong against a very talented Governor’s squad. GA was able to control the flow of this game with their speed, and quick ball movement. Despite being down 10-4 by halftime, Milton played with heart and passion, working hard all over the field until the final whistle. The GA scoring was spread out among many talented attackers. Several Mustangs tallied goals for Milton: Sarah Reilly (2), Diana Perry (1), Alyson Friedensohn (1), Hillary McNamara (1), Melissa Mittelman (1).

| The Mustangs traveled up to Andover to play a non-league game on Wednesday 5/7/08. It was a picture perfect afternoon on the turf. Milton started strong, and played some very, very tough defense lead by seniors Rebecca Evans, and Marissa Simmons. Andover possessed the ball in the Milton defensive zone for long periods of time, but was unable to capitalize often. Goalie Julia Hobbs made some great saves and really kept Milton in the game through the first half. As the afternoon wore on, Andover consistently beat Milton to and came up with 50/50 ground balls. Milton had difficulty with midfield transition, and, visibly frustrated, let Andover run away with this game. An accomplished Andover keeper held Milton to 6 goals. |

| Due to inclement weather the Mustangs traveled to the Wellesley College turf field on Friday 5/9/08 to get in this traditional non-league game. Despite an abbreviated warm up and relentless rain, Milton took the lead early on going up 5 nil within the first 10 minutes. The Mustangs played the most cohesive half of lacrosse they have to date, and finished the first half up 8-2. The midfield transition looked great and the scoring was spread out amongst the Mustang attack. Dana Hall, refusing to give up, managed to battle back to within one goal with 3 minutes left on the clock. The disciplined mustangs were able to hang onto the ball and work an effective stall, sneaking in one more goal to finish the game victorious at 12-10. | The Mustangs lost a heart breaker on Saturday afternoon in overtime sudden victory to ISL rival St. Mark’s. Early in the game Milton traded goals with St. Mark’s, but the Lions were able to pull away to a 6-2 lead with 15 minutes left in the first half. Milton answered back, narrowing the gap to 7-9 at half time. The score remained close through the beginning of the second half, and Milton finally tied the score at 12-12 with 8 minutes left in regulation. The teams went into overtime with a score of 14-14. Milton went up 15-14 with 1:30 left to play in the first 3 minute OT period, but St. Mark’s found the back of the net with 7 seconds left on the clock. Milton controlled the flow of play in the second 3 minute OT period, but could not score, sending the game into sudden victory. Milton had several scoring opportunities at the beginning of the sudden victory period, but strong St. Mark’s goal tending thwarted their heroic efforts. Finally, St. Mark’s was able to capitalize on a free position shot on goal ending this exciting contest. Not the ending Milton hoped for, but the Mustang’s played with composure and heart - - no one can ask for much more than that. Milton struggled to possess the ball throughout the field, and could not capitalize when in their offensive zone. St. Paul’s controlled the flow of play and won this contest 12-6. | Milton played ISL rival BB&N on Voses Lane Friday afternoon 5/16/08 amidst a drizzle that turned into a down pour, causing slippery conditions and some soggy play. The Milton Squad, riddled with a long IR list, had a tough time getting into this game and trailed by 3 goals 10 minutes into the first half. Finally Milton found the back of the net, but so did the Knights, leaving Milton at a 7-1 deficit at half time. A newly engaged Milton team stepped onto the field in the second half and finally found their stride, going on a scoring run that had BB&N on their heals. Senior defender Marissa Simmons helped spark this with her gritty defense and 2 well read, and key interceptions. At the other end of the field, Melissa Mittelman’s speed and nose for the goal brought some life back to the Milton attack. Milton showed determination and heart, outscoring and out hustling the Knights in the second half. After a valiant come back effort, Milton lost this contest 12-8. | Milton traveled to Groton, MA on Wednesday 5/21 for an ISL game. Milton came out strong going up 2 nil within the first 5 minutes of the game. They then traded goals with Groton maintaining a 2 goal lead with the score at 4-2 with 13 minutes left to play in the half. The Mustangs then seemed to find themselves a step behind all over the field while Groton went on a scoring streak, tallying 5 unanswered goals. The score at half time had Groton at an 8-5 advantage. Milton collected themselves at halftime and found another level of competition thanks to some inspired speeches from senior leaders. Milton battled back into this game with unfrazzled urgency – sparked largely by tremendous defensive efforts by 2 seniors. Rebecca Evans and Marissa Simmons read the field well, were able to pick off several passes, and were first to every loose ball. The Mustangs lead 12-10 with 3:21 left in regulation. Groton won the next draw and put in a goal with 2:51 left to play. Milton came up with the next draw and was able to run a composed and effective stall, despite frantic Groton double and triple teams. Milton won this exciting ISL contest 12-11.
