L 18 - 14 |
| Milton softball lost its season opener to Rivers
18-14. It was an offensive battle that played out
until the very last out. Rivers came out strong in
the first three innings scoring the majority of their
runs but Milton settled down and fought their way back
into the game. Leading the Mustangs offense was
pitcher, Isa Gell-Levey who was 3 for 3, including a
double and a triple, 2 walks, 4 RBIs and 2 runs
scored. Senior co-captain and catcher, Chelsey
Locarno went 3 for 5, including 2 doubles and a
homerun. She also scored twice and had 3 RBIs.
Freshman third baseman, Alana Dovner also had an
exceptional day at the plate hitting a homerun in her
first at bat as a Mustang. She ended up going 3 for 4
with a walk, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Senior
co-captain and first baseman, Dineen Boyle was 2 for 3
with a run scored. Right fielder, Mary Bruynell was 2
for 3 with a walk and a run scored, and shortstop
Caitlin Hickey added 2 RBIs. One of the best
defensive plays of the game came off a line drive to
left fielder, Erin McDaniel who made a great pickup
and threw to 2nd to catch the RIvers baserunner in a
rundown. Second baseman, Alex Jaeger smartly chased
the runner back to first and made a timely throw to
pick off the runner retreating to first base. Milton
hopes to carry some of this offensive momentum when
they face St. George's at home on Wednesday. |

the 2nd Milton rally and she was 1 for 2 with a walk

on Friday. |
| 4/18 | Dana Hall |

| Milton pulled off an exciting victory against a solid
Dana Hall softball squad by a score of 4-3. Dana Hall

| 4/23 | @ Thayer |
3:00 |
L 10 - 9 |
| Milton suffered a tough loss to Thayer 10-9. Isabelle

|
| 4/26 | @ Lawrence |
1:00 |
L 19 - 7 |
| Milton softball lost to Lawrence 19-7 but the score
does not reflect some of the success the Mustangs had
against a good Lawrence squad. Milton kept it a close
game until the 5th inning when defensive mistakes and
some timely hitting by Lawrence broke things open.
Milton once again had a lot of offensive success led
by Isabelle Gell-Levey who was 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs.
Chelsey Locarno was 2 for 3, including a double, a
triple, a walk and 3 runs scored. Caitlin Hickey was
2 for 2, including a double, 3 RBIs, a walk, and a run

| 4/30 | Southfield |
3:30 |
W 7 - 3 |

Gell-Levey had a solid outing on the mound allowing
only 5 hits. The Mustang defense put forth one of
their better efforts with some key outs from 3rd

hit to the 5/6 hole and a pickoff play on an attempted
steal of 3rd base from catcher, Chelsey Locarno. The
offense was lead by Sophia Rabb who had a 3 run

scored. Dineen Boyle had 3 hits and 1 RBI. Alana
Dovner was 2 for 3 with a walk and 2 RBIs. Caitlin

| 5/5 | @ Brooks |
4:45 |

| 5/8 | @ Governor's |
4:45 |
L 16 - 1 |
| It was a disappointing loss to Governor's Academy
today for Milton's varsity softball team. Milton
didn't have any answers for Governor's pitching losing
the game 16-1. The Mustangs made contact but only had
one hit on the day which was a double by Chelsey
Locarno. Sophia Rabb moved Locarno to third on a
fielder's choice. Locarno scored Milton's only run on
a wild pitch. Milton's defense continues to struggle
but hopes to put their best foot forward for the
remainder of the season. |
| 5/10 | St. Mark's |
2:00 |
L 8 - 0 |
| Milton softball fell to St. Mark's by a score of 8-0.
The Mustangs had one of their better defensive games
with only 2 errors on the day. Isa Gell-Levey pitched
fairly well but it was her defense off the mound that
had a greater impact. Gell-Levey had 6 assists and 4
putouts on defense. Dineen Boyle was also involved in
several key outs with 5 assists and 3 putouts.
Offensively the Mustangs were successful with 8 hits
against one of the league's best pitchers but lacked
some timely hitting and left 11 runners on base.
Sophia Rabb, Caitlin Hickey and Chelsey Locarno all
had 2 hits. One of Rabb's hits would have surely
scored a run but was called a ground rule double.
Mary Bruynell and Alana Dovner each had one hit. The
team continues to improve, and despite the score,
realizes that they were a couple of hits away from
being right in this one. The Mustangs will take on
St. Paul's at home on Wednesday.
|
| 5/14 | St. Paul's |
3:30 |
W 13 - 2 |
| Milton softball defeated St. Paul's by a score of

season on the hill hurling a 6 hitter with 6
strikeouts and no walks. Her battery-mate Chelsey
Locarno also had one of her best defensive
performances from behind the plate including throwing

offense was Caitlin Hickey who was 2 for 3, including
a double, an RBI, 3 runs scored, a walk and 2 stolen
bases. Sophia Rabb had a 2 RBI single and 2 runs
scored. Alana Dovner was a defensive force on the day
with 5 assists and 4 putouts while also contributing
on offense with a 2 run triple. Dineen Boyle started
a 5th inning rally with a hard single up the middle.
These individual achievements were only part of a team
effort today where Mustang softball showed what they
are capable of when they put 100% into all aspects of
the game. Milton will be back at it tomorrow when
they take on BBN.
|
| 5/15 | @ BB&N |
4:30 |
L 8 - 3 |
| Milton lost to BBN today by a score of 8-3. It was
another solid pitching outing by Isa Gell-Levey but
BBN had 10 hits on the day to Milton's 3 hits. The
Mustang defense made some great plays picking off
several BBN baserunners. Dineen Boyle, Caitlin Hickey
and Chelsey Locarno combined on a 5-3-2 double play.
Brooke Rice ran down a long ball hit to the fence in
left and threw to her relay, Alana Dovner, who threw
home. Caitlin Hickey cut the throw and ran down the
BBN baserunner for the out. Chelsey Locarno and
Dineen Boyle also combined for a pickoff at home on a
broken play. Offensively, Chelsey Locarno had 2 of
Milton's 3 hits, including a 2 RBI homerun that scored
Brooke Rice who reached when hit by a pitch. Rice and
Locarno each had one stolen base. Mary Bruynell added

the Big East Tournament. |

starting pitcher, Isabelle Gell-Levey but the Mustangs
did not score again after the first inning.
Milton regrouped and won their second matchup beating
Exeter 9-8 in an exciting game that Milton won in
their last at-bat. Milton had a big offensive 3rd
inning and took the lead 6-4. The inning started with
a hit by Brooke Rice who stole her way to 2nd. She
got to 3rd on a passed ball and scored on an error by
the catcher. Isabelle Gell-Levey hit a double to
score 2 runs. Dineen Boyle knocked in Gell-Levey and
Mary Bruynell scored Boyle. Exeter went ahead in the
6th inning 8-6 and threatened to take a big lead with
runners on 2nd and 3rd until Brooke Rice made a diving

McDaniel started the inning with a long at bat that
ended in a walk. Brooke Rice singled to left to bring
up the top of the order. Chelsey Locarno walked,
Caitlin Hickey singled, Sophia Rabb knocked in a run

season for Milton with everyone contributing on both

Milton scored in their first at-bat when Chelsey
Locarno reached on a walk. Sophia Rabb hit a double

down without a fight and had a big offensive 3rd
inning. Mary Bruynell reached on a walk and Erin
McDaniel hit a homerun to drive in 2 runs. Locarno,

again driving in 2 runs. Isa Gell-Levey hit a double,
her second of the game, to drive in 2 more runs.
Milton was back in it trailing 11-9. Milton
manufactured another run in the 5th and continued to
chip away at the Brooks lead. Milton determined to
come back to win kept it within reach with another big
catch in left, this time by Dineen Boyle to prevent
Brooks from scoring again. The Mustangs tried to
rally again in the 7th, and with 2 outs, Chelsey
Locarno singled and Caitlin Hickey doubled to drive
Locarno in. Sophia Rabb hit a hard line drive to
