The Millet Junior Championship Tour Event

sponsored by the US Squash Association

In 2007, Frank Millet was honored and recognized by the U.S. Squash Racquets Association and the Massachusetts Squash Racquets Association for his many contributions to squash at the junior level by naming one of its four premier tournaments on the calendar after him, The Frank Millet Junior Championship Tour Event.  More than 300 junior players from around the country travel to the Murr Squash Center in Mr. Millet’s alma mater, Harvard, to compete in this significant event. The tournament has served as a Milton mini-reunion of sorts as numerous Milton alumni attend the event as squash parents, referees and spectators; current Milton players compete; and future Milton players hone their skills for the big time.

In the Millet Junior Championships’ inaugural year of 2007, Casey S. Cortes '09 became the first Miltonian to win a Millet Championship. With the help of Mr. Millet himself as “match coach” in her semifinals and finals matches, Casey upset the then numbers 2, 5 and 7 ranked players in the country on her way to winning the Girls Under 17 championship. In the aftermath of close 3-2 wins in both the semifinals and finals, Mr. Millet confessed: “Though I was trying to keep her calm, I was more nervous than the player.”
