How to Apply to the Lower School
Milton Academy welcomes applications for Kindergarten through Grade 5. Our planned entry points for the Lower School are Kindergarten and Grade 4, but spaces in other grades often become available. To begin your conversation with Milton Academy, complete and submit the Request Information form to add your name to our mailing list. Admission Packets are sent electronically to the email provided.
To begin, families will be directed to create an online account to manage all aspects of the application process:
- Access Milton’s application
- Initiate requests for recommendations
- Download PDFs
- Track the status of an application
While we encourage families to begin the application process before the deadline, completed applications are due by January 15.
Grade K–5 Application Process
Please submit the online application forms as soon as possible, but no later than January 15. Upon receipt, we will create a personal file for your child, and assign him or her a group visit (Kindergarten and Grade 4 only). In addition to the group visit, applicants for Kindergarten will also be scheduled for an individual assessment.
Part 1: Application for Admission
Part 2: Parent Statement
A non-refundable application fee of $50 for domestic applicants and $100 USD for international applicants must be submitted with your application using Visa, MasterCard or Discover. Fee waivers are available if the fee represents a financial hardship for your family. Please contact the K-8 Office of Admission for details.
Download, sign and distribute the Record Release Form to your child’s school administrator to authorize the release of academic records from the current and past year.
Evaluations: Submitted online (preferred method)
Submit the evaluation request to your child’s current classroom teacher through the online application system. AISNE forms are available to download if necessary.
Tour and Interview
If you have not already scheduled a campus tour and interview, please do so by contacting the K-8 Office of Admission at 617-898-2509 as soon as possible. All interviews and tours must be completed by January 15.
Group Visits (Kindergarten and Grade 4 only)
All applicants for Kindergarten and Grade 4 will be scheduled for a group visit. This visit is assigned upon receipt of Parts 1 and 2 of the application. The group visit is an essential part of the admission process. It provides an opportunity for the applicant to visit Milton and for us to observe the applicant in a classroom setting.
Kindergarten Assessment (Kindergarten applicants only)
All kindergarten applicants will be scheduled for an assessment upon receipt of Parts 1 and 2 of the application.
