Anne Neely, member of the Art Department, had an exhibition entitled, Garden of Memory, Drawings and Paintings at the Alpha Gallery on Newbury Street in Boston from December 9, 2001 to January 8, 2002. This group of paintings was inspired by a fellowship in Ireland in the spring of 2001. The paintings focus on the theme of the garden as a metaphor for the cycle of life and decay. Flowers are used as an icon for the self and placed within a natural setting. A 30 page color-catalogue accompanied the exhibition with an essay by New York Times Art Critic, Miles Unger.
