W 4 - 3 |
| On a chilly Monday afternoon in North Andover, the visiting Milton Academy Mustangs pulled out a 4-3 victory in a thriller. It was the definition of a complete team effort, as everyone contributed to the win. Senior pitcher Mike Baldino (2-0 on the season) was dazzling, as he kept the Brooks attack off balance, scattering 5 hits through 6.1 innings before giving way to Sophomore Erik Jacobsen. Jacobsen earned the save as he entered the game with the bases loaded and needing two outs to secure the victory. Jacobsen allowed a single before getting a man to ground out then popping the last batter out to second baseman Chuck Cabot to close out the win for MA. At the plate, Baldino was just as effective as he had a hit and worked two walks, scored a run, and wreaked havoc on the basepaths with two stolen bases. Junior OF Nick Santangelo had a strong day at the plate as well, going 1-1 with a walk and sacrifice fly to drive in the eventual game winner. Sophomores Gregor Seidman (making his first Varsity start behind the plate) and Christian Hoxsie were invaluable both at the plate and in the field. Seidman threw two men out stealing, and drove in a run at the plate. Hoxsie was 2-3 with 2 singles, including one which drove in two big runs in the 4th inning. Milton faces a tough Thayer team Wednsday in Braintree. |

At the plate, Hoxsie had three hits for MA, and Baldino had another typical day at the plate, reaching base three times-- including a clutch two out bases-clearing triple in the top of the 7th that drove in two. As a team, the Mustangs had a solid day at the plate, banging out eight hits, and playing solid defense on this sunny day in Groton. The Mustangs look to bounce back against ISL powerhouse Roxbury Latin on Wednesday. |

| It was a complete team effort once again as Milton rebounded from a tough loss against Lawrence to defeat the high-powered Foxes in West Roxbury. The star of the day was Erik Jacobsen '11 who threw 6 1/3 innings and dazzled the RL hitters with a mixture of pitches. He kept the RL attack at bay, scattering 6 hits. Senior Mike Baldino relieved Jacobsen in the 7th and earned the rare one pitch save, as he allowed a fly ball to deep center that was tracked down and caught at the fence by Nick Santangelo '10, who then fired it in and doubled a runner off at second base to secure the win. At the plate, it was a collective effort led by Senior DH Chris Amrhein who had 3 hits, including a triple. Santangelo also had a good day at the plate, with a key bunt hit, as did Sophomores Christian Hoxsie and Gregor Seidman who each drove in a run. The Mustangs played solid defense all day, and will look to build on this win on Saturday when they square off against Governor's at Nash Field. |

Sophomore Erik Jacobsen went 2-3 at the dish with 4 RBI, including his first round-tripper of the season. Senior Chris Amrhein stayed hot at the plate with 2 hits of his own, including a monumental blast to left with 2 men on. Sophomore Christian Hoxsie had 2 hits as well. Also contributing base-knocks were Nick Santangelo ('10), Danny Doherty ('10), Gregor Seidman ('11), Adam Conklin ('10), and Jonah Francese ('09). Junior Kevin Barbary reached base three times with a single and two walks. Junior Nick Santangelo hit the ball hard all day with one double to show for it, and made an acrobat catch in left field worthy of a Web-Gem. Santangelo crashed through the left field wall to rob a St. Mark's hitter of extra bases. Jacobsen was the beneficiary of the run support, as he kept the St. Mark's attack at bay, while scattering just six hits in his complete game effort. The Mustangs look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday against St. Paul's at Nash Field. |

| It was another complete team effort that led the Milton Mustangs to victory over the Groton Zebras on a sunny afternoon at Nash Field. It was Senior Day, as the Class of 2009 played their final home game, and the Seniors certainly led the way. Mike Baldino turned in another gutsy performance, throwing 6 innings and scattering 4 hits, improving his record to a sterling 5-1 on the year. He also added a double and scored a run. Fellow Senior Mike Saltzman came in and closed out the game, slamming the door on the Groton bats in the 7th. Seidman had 4 RBI on the day, all of them with 2 outs, as he continued his hot hitting. Senior Chris Amrhein enjoyed his final home game, with 2 hits and 2 RBI, including his second home run of the season onto the porch in left field. Also contributing hits for MA were Junior OF Nick Santangelo and Sophomore SS Erik Jacobsen. Also with hits for Milton were seniors Mike Baldino (2 hits, 2 runs scored), Jonah Francese, and John Kane, and Juniors Nick Santangelo (2 hits), Danny Doherty (2 hits), and Kevin Barbary. The beneficiary of all this support was Sophomore Erik Jacobsen who kept the Nobles attack quiet while allowing just 7 hits and gutted out his 4th victory after getting hit on the ankle with a line drive by the first batter he faced. MA played errorless defense to contribute to the win. Coach Petherick had this to say: "It was the best game we played all year, which shows how far we've come this year. The players banded together and pulled out a great win to close the year." |
