Janet Levine, Milton faculty member (English department) has for years studied the Enneagram, a popular system of personality mapping— helping people get a better understanding of their motivations, talents and problems. In her most recent book, Know Your Parenting Personality: How to Use the Enneagram to Become the Best Parent You Can Be, Janet Levine, applies the Enneagram system to parenting—and shows people how to develop richer, stronger, less stressful relationships with their children.
The book opens with a simple test that helps people discover their Enneagram parenting types—Moralizer, Helper, Organizer, Dreamer, Rationalizer, Questioner, Entertainer, Protector or Peacekeeper—which corresponds to one of the nine standard Enneagram types. The book includes an insightful discussion of each parenting type and includes lots of practical tips on interacting with a child who has a different type. Janet’s groundbreaking system gives parents the vision to see the world as their child sees it, and the power to use this vision to achieve all of their parenting goals. Parents will learn to recognize their greatest parenting strengths and weaknesses and how to become a true guide and mentor to their child.
Janet’s work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine and the Boston Globe. Her previous books include The Enneagram Intelligences: Understanding Personality for Effective Teaching and Learning. Levine is the founder and first president of a professional association of Enneagram teachers.
