Spanish Exchange 2004

August, 2004

Students spent June living and learning in Madrid, Spain, as part of Milton Academy’s Spanish Exchange program. This program offers Milton students the opportunity to pair with “counterpart” students from Colegio El Pilar, a private school located in the heart of Madrid. Milton students join their counterparts in Madrid for four weeks during the summer and the students from Colegio El Pilar travel to Boston for four weeks in early fall.

Fourteen Milton Academy students participated in the first part of this year’s exchange program. “Our students participated in a variety of activities at the school, enjoyed excursions in and around Madrid, lived with families, and completely immersed themselves in the culture,” said Mary Jo Ramos, a Spanish department faculty member and advisor to the exchange group.

Colegio El Pilar students will arrive in Boston on September 2. They will attend Milton classes, explore Boston and learn about U.S. culture.

Milton Academy students participating in the 2004 Spanish Exchange program include Alex Dey (Class I), Annie Jean-Baptiste (Class II), Bailey Carroll (Class II), Jessalyn Gale (Class II), Stephanie Richards (Class II), Cam Skinner (Class I), Laura Will (Class I), Andrew Zheng (Class I), George Warner (Class II), Caitlin Barry-Heffernan (Class II), Jason Yeager (Class I), Brad Hunnewell (Class I), Anne Sando (Class II), and Kristin Leonard (Class II).
