Arts Night 2005, a spring tradition at Milton, showcases all the arts, from creative writing through visual and performing arts, throughout the campus. Milton students publicly share the diversity of their work with audiences in many venues—a lively, night-long moveable feast. One year of an arts program course has been a Milton requirement since the '70s; students use the course to explore a completely new art form as often as they do to pursue a known skill.

One example of an arts night "special" is the performance planned by Peter Parisi's (performing arts faculty) Oral Interpretation Class. "We're performing a cutting from The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, abridged. Essentially, we run through all of Shakespeare's plays in 30 minutes. Hilarious! Oral Interp is a great class—10 boys and 3 girls—most, if not all of these students, do not have a chance to perform on Milton stages because of athletics or other commitments.

Students read their poetry, build sculpture installations, sing, play jazz, act and dance for their favorite audiences— friends and faculty.
The arts program courses are a vital element of Milton and of campus life.
