On March 5, the team completed its last tournament for state qualifying. Thirty-seven students advanced, earning slots at the state tournament on April 9 in Lexington. Since only two students in each event from a school can enter, 27 students will represent Milton at the state tournament. On February 12, the students competed for the 36 slots in the Catholic Nationals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 26-29. Of the 36, Milton earned 17 of the slots with an impressive showing in every category. March 11 and 12, the first two days of spring break, the team competed for the 12 slots in the National Tournament in Philadelphia on June 11-18. Milton earned five of the 12 slots, and will leave the day after graduation for the tournament.

While
most students started their spring break on March 10, the Milton
Speech Team was working on the third leg of its state and national
qualifying tournaments. The team competed for seven straight weekends
to complete the qualifying process.
