What to expect from Milton to parents
Milton keeps in touch with parents in several ways, but not through frequent email messages. We use the Centre Connection and the Web site; and your children’s advisors speak directly from Milton to you about the life of the School and your child’s experience here.
Why does the administration use email infrequently? We know that your inbox is full on many days; sorting urgent messages from those that can wait takes valuable time. By thinking carefully about when to use this valuable medium, we hope you will realize that receiving an email from a member of the School administration means that the message is important. An email from Interim Head of School Rick Hardy will come only in an emergency, when the timing or the subject matter (or both) needs your attention. An email from Interim Upper School Principal Sarah Wehle, Dean of Students Bridget Johnson or Academic Dean David Ball will come only when you need to hear directly from them in a timely fashion.
To clarify: Other individuals or groups may contact you by email—like your child’s class dean, or a parent volunteer—with useful information, or requests for you to consider. The Parents’ Association has its own address, for example, and sends emails to remind you about their meetings and projects.
The School leadership, however, will only use email to get in touch with you when we need you to have the message quickly and comprehensively. Please be sure to read a message from the School administration if and when it comes.
