Our Assessment: Moving Toward Completion

Our Assessment of Inclusion and Multiculturalism (AIM), the NAIS process that Milton has undertaken this year, has unfolded to include all the constituencies that are part of Milton Academy in the broadest sense. Our intention—to hear perspectives and opinions from all voices connected with Milton—is still in process, but the outreach has already been successful. Student and adult conversations have affirmed Milton’s commitment to sustaining and enhancing rich learning experiences in and out of the classroom. We have witnessed strong commitment on the part of faculty and staff to building mutually rewarding relationships with students and colleagues.

At this writing more than 1400 individuals have responded to the AIM online survey.

753 students
209 faculty, staff and administrators
133 parents
395 alumni
Trustees will complete their survey participation at their upcoming meeting.

Many thanks to those of you who have completed the survey thus far. We will close the survey on Friday, April 30. Constituency focus groups, the other element of the assessment, are also in process. At this point, 20 faculty and staff groups, five student conversations and one session with the trustees have taken place. Groups of alumni will meet in Washington D.C., New York and Boston during the next few months. Parents who are interested in participating in a discussion session should contact Heather Flewelling at Heather_Flewelling@milton.edu.

NAIS will analyze the Milton Academy data, and we will soon have findings that will be immensely helpful as we plan together for the future.
