Centre Connection Vol I Issue 3• November 2003

November 13, 2002

Dear Parents,

The Milton Parents’ Association (PA) continues its’ mission to enhance school spirit and foster communication. Parents’ Weekend was a grand success. The PA hosted class dinners in Fitzgibbons Convocation Center followed by speaker Loretta LaRoche, who, as promised, helped us to ease the tensions of the day. Thanks to all the parent reps from Classes I-IV (especially Pam Frechette) who with their thoughtful planning and follow through made the evening a huge success. Special thanks also to facilities, campus safety and ARA dining services. A mega thanks to Jennifer Green from ARA for all the setting up, breaking down and generally keeping on top of the logistics for these events. Your support made a great evening happen.

The Parents’ Association tables in the alumni tent and the Fitzgibbons Convocation Center greeted parents and students from near and far on Milton-Nobles’ Day, November 9. Judy Tucker, co- vice president, Kathy Linehan and John Henderson, athletic tea coordinators, made sure that plenty of Milton fleece blankets and mugs were available to buy, and that teams and fans enjoyed plenty of food. The blankets, dark blue with the Milton “M” in one corner, are attractive and would make great holiday gifts. A few are left but we can order more at a cost of $45.00 each. We also have plenty of Milton mugs which you can have at a bargain…. contact us by voice mail or email.

Thanks to the Class II representatives, especially Bella English, a Class II dinner occurred on Thursday evening, November 7. We plan to organize this event so that it is more accessible to parents of boarding students next year. Parents discussed, among other topics, the spring Class II leadership event, Class II academic pressures, disciplinary committees, and college angst with School administrators and Juan Ramos, Class II dean.

In December our business meeting takes place on December 12 (new date) while we enjoy a holiday potluck dinner, you can hear committee reports and voice your opinions on what we have done or should be doing. ALL parents are welcome.

Robin Robertson invites all parents to an Open House on December 15.
Our next letter will be in January 2003 so the Parents’ Association would like to take this opportunity to wish you a joyous holiday season and peace in the New Year.

Warmest regards,
Pamela Thorpe, Co-President, Day
