The Class I Gift is a longstanding fund-raising tradition at Milton
Academy. For 19 years, parents of class I students have come together
to make a significant gift in honor of their children's graduation.
Past class gifts have established scholarships funds and faculty
chairs, refurbished a portion of the library, endowed the Community
Service program and most recently supported the construction of
the student-faculty center.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q Will our family be asked to make
a gift to the Annual Fund and the Class I Gift Drive?
No. The Class I Gift will be the only official “ask”
this year.
Q What is the difference between the Annual
Fund and the Class I Gift?
The Annual Fund is made up of unrestricted gifts in support of the
annual operating budget. The Class I Gift is a program contributing
money to a restricted project.
Q Milton is asking each Class I
family to make a “stretch” gift. What exactly does that
mean?
Milton would love to have each family consider a
leadership gift. Obviously this is not possible in all cases. A
stretch gift usually means 3 to 5 times the largest gift given in
the previous three years.
Q Can I donate to other funds at
Milton, and still be counted towards the 100% participation goal
of the Class I Gift?
Yes. While the Class I Gift is geared toward a specific
project, if you feel more comfortable making a gift to the Annual
Fund or another project at Milton, you will still be included in
the participation.
Q. How can I give
to the Class I Gift?
All gifts and pledges to the Class I Gift must be in by June 30.
It is possible, however, to make a pledge over a finite number of
years and have the total pledge count toward the gift. Donors can
make a gift with a check, credit card or appreciated securities.
You can also make a gift via our secure
online giving form. If you have any questions, or would like
to make your family’s contribution to the Class I Gift, please
contact Perry Buroker,
director of annual giving, at (617) 898-2375.
