Fall Athletics Roundup

Boys’ Football
The Milton football team rolled to a 7-1 record on the season culminating in their fourth straight victory over archrival Nobles 27-0. Head Coach Kevin MacDonald has established one of the strongest prep programs in the nation, as the Mustang’s record is now 20-3-1 over the last three seasons. Starting quarterback Dan Zailskas (Class II), running back Lawrence Duggan (Class I), Charlie Haydock (Class I), Andrew Tsanotelis (Class II), Mike Greenberg (Class II), and defensive back Spencer Platt (Class I) were voted ISL All-League selections. Rising seniors Tsanotelis and Zailskas were voted captains for next season.

Girls’ Field Hockey
The field hockey team finished with a final record of 9-7 and there were many highlights to the season. In the last game of the season, Milton beat Andover, who was ranked #3 in the New England Region. This 2-0 victory over a dominant, top-ranked team proved to be a great ending to our season.

All-League selections from Milton were co-captains Martha Pitt (Class I) and Lindsay McNamara (Class I). The team MVP was Lindsay McNamara, Unsung Hero was goalkeeper Liesl Kenney (Class I) and Most Improved went to Annie LaVigne (Class III). The high scorer was Teresa Curtis (Class III) who tallied 17 goals and 8 assists for the season. Next season’s co-captains will be Maddie MacMillan (Class II) and Jackie Flint (Class II).

Boys' Cross Country
The team ran strong throughout the fall and finished seventh at the ISL’s despite a roster depleted by injury. Thomas Harvey (Class I), Colin Flaherty (Class I) and Mark Motejunas (Class II) were Milton’s top runners throughout the fall. Thomas Harvey was voted Top Runner while Toussant Mears-Clarke (Class I) was voted Most Improved Runner on the team. Captains for next season will be rising seniors Leo Lester and Eli Kowalski.

Girls' Cross Country
The girls placed 6th in the varsity race at the ISL’s, which was a three-place improvement over last year's finish. In a cold and snowy race at Hotchkiss School, the team placed sixth in the season ending New England Championships.

The team voted Maddie Englis (Class II) as Rookie of the Year and Laura Gottesdiener (Class II) as Most Valuable Player. Next years captains are Jess Gale (Class II) and Laura Gottesdiener (Class II). Many of the girls are looking ahead to track season this spring and the next cross country season, but we will miss graduating seniors MJ Lee, VyVy Le, Emma Sando and Laura Smith.

Girls’ Varsity Soccer
The girls’ varsity soccer team played a successful season. The girls compiled an overall record of 7-4-4 and just missed a bid to the New England Tournament. The team finished fourth in the ISL and 9th in New England. With 9 seniors, there was plenty of leadership and experience on the team. Though they are going to be young, next year's team will look to improve on this year's record while led by captains Natalie Young (Class II) and Jamie Mittleman (Class II). All-League players were Joyce and Grace Lam (Class I) and All-League Honorable Mention was Natalie Young.

Boys’ Varsity Soccer
Although the overall record was not strong (3- 9 - 4), we felt our improvement was impressive over the course of the season. We lost four games by a 1-0 score and had a 0-0 tie. All of our losses mentioned above were to teams that qualified to the New England Tournament and finished in the top third of the league.

Zac Trudeau (Class I) was voted to the first team All ISL. He also was selected to play in the Prep School All Star game. Matt Enright (Class I) and Alex Dey (Class I) were voted second team All-League players.

Zac Trudeau and Matt Enright were also voted the co-MVP’s on the season.
