Centre Connection Vol VI Issue 5 • April 2008

Campus Safety Makes a Plea

To save a few minutes, probably at the behest of their children, parents are stopping too frequently on Centre Street to unload students, back packs, athletic bags and instruments. This practice frustrates drivers behind the stopped car, and puts students at risk. Drivers’ vision isn’t always clear, and both the car and the foot traffic (at crosswalks) is heavy. Please consider strategies other than stopping in mid-traffic for students to make the start of School.

Using the legitimate and handy locations for drop-off will make the winter months safer, as well as streamline the driving for everyone in and around Milton Academy at the opening of School.

The options are:

  • Regardless of what direction you’re approaching from, you can circle in behind the facilties building and exit behind the Forbes House, leaving students at the passageway that heads directly to the Schwarz Student Center.

  • Heading east on Centre Street, circle in to Norris House (one of the new houses), and drop students off in front of the dorm (thereby avoiding the traffic and lights at Randolph Ave.).

  • Heading east on Centre Street, circle in toward the Junior Building, and drop students off at the Junior Building parking lot.

  • On Mondays, drop students in front of the Robert Saltonstall Gymnasium and take an immediate right to drive right out Academy Drive onto Randolph Ave. (Tuesday through Friday, drop students in front of the Fitzgibbons Convocation Center and take an immediate right behind the gym to exit onto Randolph Ave.)

Please help us avoid accidents by observing these guidelines.
