EPIPHANY SCHOOL DINNER PROGRAM
Milton Academy is a valued partner with this small school for middle schoolers who have entered it from the Boston public system. It requires pupils to attend an intensive 12-hour school day and Milton Academy has made a commitment to help prepare, serve and clean up dinner every Monday. Volunteers go from 3:15-6:30 and have a chance to get to know the 80 children and their teachers well.

GREATER BOSTON FOOD BANK

The Boston Food Bank is a monthly or one-time Saturday commitment which involves sorting and salvaging food donated by area grocery stores. This is a great way to get a logistical perception of how much food is needed by the area’s low-income families and how that constantly increasing need is addressed. The donations from the food bank are dispersed to wide variety of organizations throughout the Boston area including shelters, food pantries and daycare centers. Milton Academy will send a group of 10 volunteers on the following dates in 2011-2012: Nov.19 (12:30-4:00), Dec.10 (9:00-12:30), Jan.7 (9:00-12:30), Feb.4 (12:30-4:00), Mar.3 (9:00-12:30), Mar.31 (9:00-12:30), May 5 (12:30-4:00). Signups will begin on the Monday preceding each trip and slots will be filled first come first served at the Community Service office.

MILTON FOOD PANTRY
This local food pantry serves low-income families in Milton who can pick up groceries on Saturday mornings. It is located in the basement of Parkway Methodist Church. Volunteers can help sort and distribute food items on Saturdays 8-12:00.

ROSIE’S PLACE
Homeless and low income women and children are fed and housed at this downtown shelter, 7 days a week. Milton students have the opportunity to become part of the community as they prepare and serve lunch or dinner, and interact with the guests. This is a site where special groups (eg. advisor, dorm) can be booked to prepare and serve a meal (for 100+ women) or they could simply cook it here on campus for delivery at a later date.
