Dear friends,
During the past several days, I have been watching the devastating news out of Southern California. My heart goes out to you and our broader Milton Academy family on the West Coast as the fires spread. I hope you and your loved ones are safe and that the immediate danger will end very soon.
With everything our California community is dealing with right now, we felt it was best to cancel all of the events Milton scheduled for later this month in both Los Angeles and San Francisco. Even though our Development and Alumni Relations team and I have been so excited for this trip and the opportunity to connect with you in person, we know that this isn’t the right time for us to travel to California. The thousands of residents who have fled their homes will continue to need significant attention and resources in the days and weeks ahead—including shelter in hotel rooms—and we don’t want to create any obstacle in the way of recovery and restoration efforts.
There will be joyful moments for us to gather and celebrate together in the future. For now, please know that all of us at Milton have you in our thoughts. Stay safe and strong.
