Classics

Classics at Milton is about more than grammar and vocabulary. It’s a deep, layered discovery of how people thought, wrote, governed, and lived thousands of years ago—and in their own words.

Mathematics

Our Mathematics Department teaches far more than equations and formulas: we are committed to nurturing caring, community-oriented students who approach analytical challenges with confidence and curiosity.

History

In our classrooms, students explore the past not to memorize it, but to understand it—and in doing so, to understand themselves and their role in shaping the future.

Modern Languages

Our Modern Language Department offers courses in Spanish, French, and Mandarin Chinese, empowering students to speak, think, and connect across cultures.

Visual Arts

Visual Arts classes at Milton are active, creative spaces where students learn by making, experimenting, and taking risks. Instructed by practicing artists, students develop technical skills and discover their own artistic voices while celebrating the creative process.

Athletics

Milton Mustangs are skilled student-athletes, teammates, and leaders. Dedicated and expert coaches help students develop, whether they are lifetime competitors or trying a sport for the first time. Playing in the highly competitive Independent School League, students learn the values of teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship.

With a wide range of student-led clubs, organizations, and publications, Milton students have countless ways to explore their interests, share their voices, and build community. Every weekend brings something new, with fun activities and events that bring boarding and day students together.

I applied to a bunch of independent schools in the Boston area, but what really stood out to me about Milton was that it cherished and promoted well-roundedness. I’ve found on campus that people bring such a diversity of backgrounds and interests to the school, and folks can really step outside of their comfort zone.
