Lizzie Leonard

Associate Director of College Counseling

Lizzie is thrilled to join the College Counseling staff at Milton Academy. Most recently, she was a Newton-based college counselor with Collegewise, a national college counseling organization. Before Collegewise, she spent five years as an Assistant Director of Admissions at Northeastern University. During her time at Northeastern, she recruited students from 10 U.S. states as well as five Asian countries, including Korea, Japan, and China. She helped manage Northeastern’s 100+ seasonal application readers and managed the selection process for Northeastern’s first-semester study abroad programs.

It is in Lizzie’s DNA to bring levity to people in difficult situations. She knows the college process can be confusing, stressful, and emotionally fraught. To that end, she aims to meet students where they are, and uses data, candor, and humor to help families regain a sense of control in the process. Her goal is for her students and families to feel empowered by applying to college, rather than discouraged by it.

Lizzie is a proud graduate of Kenyon College, where she was Head Tour Guide and a high jumper on the track and field team. She also received her M.S. in College Student Development and Counseling from Northeastern. In her free time, you can find Lizzie running, biking, swimming, and baking sourdough bread. She lives in Charlestown with her partner and her black lab/pitbull mix, Georgia.
