Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K-12 on a 125-acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton Academy is seeking applications for a per diem position on the Campus Safety team. The schedule for this position will be on-call as needed including nights and weekends.
Campus Safety Officers are responsible for maintaining and ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff as well as the safe use of Milton Academy properties. Officers will conduct highly visible vehicle and foot patrols of campus, regularly interacting with the campus community. Officers respond to all calls for service including lockouts, medical and safety escorts, and other general assistance.
Campus Safety Officers will also respond to and monitor various alarms on campus. Qualified candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills and excellent judgment. Experience in security building systems maintenance and a school setting is preferred. Candidate must be able to operate department computer and related software programs (MiltONline, SchoolDude, Excel motor vehicle database, Card Access, Mass Motor Vehicle Registration database). This position involves extensive walking, stair climbing and skill driving a 12-passenger van.
A high school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. One to two years of security or related experience is preferred and formal security training is desired. A valid Massachusetts driver’s license is essential. Campus Safety Officers must pass a post-offer pre-employment exam as well as an insurance and driver’s record check.
