Wigglesworth Hall
Wigglesworth Hall is home to Cox Library, the Academic Skills Center, and the Department of Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) as well as the Department of History and Social Sciences.
A space devoted to deep research, critical thinking, and the pursuit of understanding, Wigglesworth Hall is alive with meaningful discussion and discovery.
Generations of Milton alumni will recognize the library space as the former assembly room affectionately known as “Big Wigg,” a sunlight-soaked, two-story room with large windows facing the Quad. Big Wigg was the site of exams, morning assemblies, and small productions. Today, it houses the upper floor of the library.
Wigglesworth Hall is named in honor of George Wigglesworth, president of Milton Academy from 1918 to 1921 and member of the Board of Trustees from 1894 to 1921.
The Academic Skills Center (ASC) is located across the hall from the library and offers Upper School students help with study skills, academic support, workshops, and drop-in peer tutoring. History classrooms on the main and upper levels of the building support the Harkness style of learning—students and teachers gather around oval tables that promote stimulating classroom conversations.
