What’s Happening at Milton?

Unearthing a Time Capsule

A time capsule, buried on November 14, 1998, to recognize Milton Academy’s bicentennial year, lay beneath the dirt near the Athletic and Convocation Center for the past 25 years. This month, Steve Zannino, Milton Academy’s associate director of grounds and event planning, and Geordie Dunnington, a member of the Physical Education Department faculty, who were there at its placement, brought it to the surface again. Students and faculty at the time enclosed letters and photos, VHS tapes, school publications, mix tapes, and more to commemorate Milton’s 200th year.

TEDxMiltonAcademy 2023

The second annual TEDxMiltonAcademy event took place on Friday, December 1. The event was presented by Benjamin Siegel ’24, Alexa Burton ’24, Abhiram Tejomurtula ’25, Claire Salvato ’26, Gustavo Silva dos Reis ’26, and faculty advisor Lindsay Donovan. The theme this year was “Dare to Share Your Story,” and the event featured talks on a wide variety of topics such as health, compassion, identity, and more. A special shout-out to our alumni speakers: Julia Shepard Stenzel ’82, Dr. Sean M. Burns ’94, and Tanya V. Everett-Heggie ’02.

Campus Spotlight: A Perfect Score 💯

Milton’s math competitors have maintained a perfect score through months of competing at the New England Math League (NEML) this academic year. Currently, the school sits atop the NEML rankings, which includes both private and public schools. Math contests give students opportunities outside of the classroom to flex their analytical muscles while proudly representing Milton.
