Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K-12, on a 125-acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton Academy is seeking applicants for a full-time Director of Nursing to serve in an interim position for one year beginning in July 2020.
The Director of Nursing provides care and oversees the medical care of students at Milton Academy grades K-12. The Director of Nursing provides and oversees regular school medical care as well as emergency medical services, including coordinating transportation of students to emergency treatment. The Director of Nursing facilitates the services of external medical care providers from Boston Children’s Hospital for students in our boarding program.
In conjunction with School leadership, the Director of Counseling, and external medical consultants, the Director of Nursing develops and implements student health related policies, such as the administration of medication, prevention and control of communicable diseases, and general health care policies. In addition, the Director of Nursing plans and coordinates the yearly update of CPR, First Aid, and AED training for faculty and staff.
The Director of Nursing also collaborates with athletic trainers in ongoing treatment and support of student athletes. Further, the Director of Nursing is responsible for all administrative aspects of student medical care, including distribution, collection, organization, and when appropriate, communication of medical information.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a residential school and with a variety of age groups and a diverse population of students. The Director of Nursing will understand and follow laws related to the distribution of medical information, such as HIPAA.
