CSI: Milton (June 9-13)
In the criminal justice system, conflicting verbal evidence can confound the police, which can lead to uncertainty about the truth in a criminal case. This is why more and more often, detectives turn to forensic scientists to cut through the mystery and get to the facts. At Milton Academy, the dedicated professionals who investigate these mysterious felonies using their wit and scientific prowess are members of an elite squad known as The Summer Crime Scene Investigators. During the week at Milton Science Camp, students will work collaboratively to investigate a “crime scene” and conduct forensic tests on the evidence collected to support an ongoing investigation.
Designing Our Tomorrow (June 16-20)
Intrepid thinkers who are creative and willing to push themselves to explore and experience inventing are welcome to join Designing Our Tomorrow! Every day, professional scientists, engineers, and artists are imagining new and exciting ways to design a world that better serves all of its inhabitants. We will be exploring and practicing the engineering design process by taking a look at everyday inventions that may require more than meets the eye. Campers will work collaboratively in this course to tackle challenging problems and will ultimately design and prototype an innovative tool.
Environment Explorers (June 23-27)
Let’s spend some time in the great outdoors exploring complex interactions between urban and rural ecosystems! This session will take an observational and hands-on approach to gathering data and investigating all kinds of habitats; learn about major types of weather events – tornadoes, hurricanes, nor’easters, and more; and explore the school garden, plant seeds, and learn to identify flowers and plants that the summer brings. Together, these activities will build awareness of composting, recycling, water use, forest sustainability, and animal species preservation in New England!
