Summary of Position:

Milton Academy is seeking applicants for the position of Health Center Director starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. This key leadership role oversees and ensures high-quality medical care for students in grades K–12 and manages the school’s 24/7 Health Center.

The Health Center Director must be a licensed provider who can independently assess, diagnose, treat, and prescribe for a range of acute and chronic conditions affecting children and adolescents.

The Health Center Director manages a team of 12 nurses (full-time, part-time, and per diem) who staff a 24/7 health center and two daytime nursing offices during the academic school year. The director provides both routine medical care and emergency services, including oversight of student transportation to external emergency facilities. For boarding students, the Director has historically facilitated care from external providers at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Working closely with school leadership, the Director of Counseling, the Head Athletic Trainer and external medical consultants, the Health Center Director shapes and implements student health policies, including those related to medication administration, communicable disease prevention, and general health practices. The role also involves organizing and coordinating annual faculty and staff training in CPR, First Aid, and AED use.

The Health Center Director collaborates with athletic trainers to provide care and support for student-athletes and manages all administrative aspects of student health, such as handling medical records and ensuring appropriate communication of relevant health information.

The ideal candidate will bring clinical expertise, experience working in educational settings, and a demonstrated ability to support diverse student populations across a wide range of ages, identities, and health needs.  The individual will also bring the ability to review and assess the structure and performance of the school’s approach to delivering care, playing a key role in decision making about the future direction of the school’s health services. This role therefore offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the health and well-being of the Milton Academy community.

Notes:

The school provides funding for continuing medical education.

On-campus housing is available for candidates willing to take on supplemental call responsibilities, offering an additional opportunity to be closely connected to the life of the school community.
