To provide convenient options for on-campus charging, community members with electric vehicles (EV) should be aware that Milton now has 14 EV charging parking spaces across its campus: four in the Pritzker Science Center lot, six in the Facilities lot and four new spaces recently added in the Pool lot. All adults and students with electric vehicles are welcome and encouraged to use them.

Electric vehicles actively using an EV charging station are the only vehicles permitted in EV charging parking spots. Following this protocol not only allows the maximum number of community members with EVs to access the EV charging stations, it helps the school stay compliant with Massachusetts regulations regarding public EV charging station use.

Campus Charging Station Locations

The seven EV charging stations on campus each have two EV charging parking spots, which are clearly marked with an image of a car inside a green rectangle (see image at right).

  • Facilities lot (three stations, six spots)
  • Pool lot (two stations, four spots)
  • Pritzker Science Center lot (two stations, four spots)

Station Speed and Ease of Use

  • Milton’s Level 2 EV chargers offer quick charging speeds, providing a convenient way to add up to 40 miles of range per hour to EVs.
  • Reliable, easy to use stations are compatible with both hybrid or full-electric vehicles.

ChargePoint App

Milton’s charging stations are fully integrated with the ChargePoint app.

  • The app makes it easy for drivers to find and use stations and pay for charging via phone or in-dash systems.
  • App allows drivers to get in line to charge when stations are full and get notified when others finish charging.
  • To download and get more information on the ChargePoint app, visit the ChargePoint website

EV Parking Space and Charging Station Etiquette

Parking Spaces
  • Non-EV vehicles are never permitted to park in EV charging spaces.
  • EVs using charging stations should be moved out of EV parking spaces once charging is completed.
  • EVs not actively using charging stations are not permitted to park in EV charging spaces.
Charging Stations
  • Leaving charging cables on the ground can damage charging plugs. When finished charging, always return EV charging connectors to their holster on the power dispenser’s cabinet.
  • Follow the “80 percent rule.” Most EVs charge the quickest when battery levels are between 10 and 80 percent. Unless absolutely necessary, vehicles should be moved out of EV charging spots after achieving an 80 percent charge.
  • Don’t unplug other EVs while charging, even if their charge level is above 80 percent.
