Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K-12, on a 125-acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton Academy is seeking a full-time Upper School performing arts teacher with a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse community for a one-year sabbatical position starting in September 2019.
The teacher will co-coach Milton Academy’s speech team, teach introductory performing arts courses, and lead introductory public speaking classes. Experience coaching interpretative events for NDSA and CFL competition at the highest level is a necessity, as is a willingness to travel locally and nationally with Milton Academy’s team. A bachelor’s degree and a valid driver’s license are required. An advanced degree is preferred; teacher certification is not required.
All teachers advise 6-8 students. Teachers are also expected to advise a student activity or coach a team or intramural sport, in addition to other responsibilities. Faculty members residing on campus typically live and work in a dormitory and all teachers living on campus have responsibilities in the residential program.
