swap-it_1_1More than 60 years ago, Milton Academy parents hosted the first Swap-It: They gathered simply to trade school uniforms. But as years passed, families brought other items to trade and sell, and Swap-It grew into a lively and beloved tradition. During Swap-It each year, the sharing spirit of Milton Academy grew. For decades, sale proceeds have benefited Milton’s youngest learners: Proceeds have underwritten computers, cameras, playground equipment, Middle School lockers, furniture and teaching materials. Over the last four years, Swap-It has also provided essential seed money for educational innovation in K–8, fueling curriculum renewal and professional development.

Once again, Swap-It is evolving. This year, we will focus on the event’s most valued elements. Swap-It will first serve Milton Academy faculty, staff, students and families. Upper School students, and their parents, can shop on Friday, October 25, from 12 to 6 p.m., and on Saturday, October 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students will still be able to purchase bestselling books, unique “boutique” items, gently used sports equipment, and crazy costumes to sport at the favorite Swap-It dance on Friday evening.

The sale will also help support Boston-area non-profit partners serving the needs of their low-income clients. And, through our partnerships with Cradles to Crayons, Sojourner House, Rosie’s Place and several other organizations, we will also help Boston residents meet basic needs with dignity and ease.
