Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K-12, on a 125-acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton Academy is seeking applicants for a full-time Upper School mathematics teacher with a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse community. The position will begin in September 2020.
The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of mathematics and a joy in promoting its understanding; an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues in curricular design and ongoing professional growth; an active interest in improving craft; a demonstrated ability to foster the growth of all students in a diverse learning community; and experience and expertise as a thoughtful practitioner.
A bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a related field is required and a master’s degree is preferred. At least three years of teaching mathematics at the secondary or collegiate level is preferred. Teacher certification is not required.
All teachers advise 6-8 students. Teachers are also expected to advise a student activity or coach a team or intramural sport, in addition to other responsibilities. Faculty members residing on campus typically live and work in a dormitory and all teachers living on campus have responsibilities in the residential program.
