Support for Student Athletes

Milton Academy believes that exceptional student-athletes thrive when they are supported in every aspect of their lives. From athletic training and strength development to academic coaching, college advising, and mental performance, our network of specialists works together to help students compete at a high level while maintaining their well-being. Whether preparing for a championship season, recovering from an injury, managing a demanding schedule, or exploring opportunities to compete in college, students have experienced professionals ready to help them succeed.

Milton's philosophy is simple: athletics are an extension of education, and every member of a student's support team is invested in their growth as a learner, teammate, leader, and citizen.

Athletic Training and
SPORTS MEDICENE

Milton's certified athletic trainers provide expert injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play support. Working closely with the Health Center, Counseling Center, Academic Skills Center, and deans, they take a collaborative approach to student wellness. Milton also maintains relationships with leading Boston-area medical providers, giving students access to specialized care when needed.

Strength and Conditioning

Athletic performance begins with smart preparation. Milton's strength and conditioning program helps student-athletes build strength, speed, mobility, endurance, and resilience through individualized training that supports both athletic performance and injury prevention. Students learn proper movement techniques, healthy training habits, and lifelong approaches to fitness that benefit them long after graduation.

Sports Psychology and Mental Performance

Milton’s Counseling Center offers support for student-athletes to help develop the mental skills needed to perform with confidence while maintaining perspective and balance. Students receive support with goal setting, confidence, focus, resilience, stress management, performance anxiety, recovery from injury, and navigating the unique demands of competitive athletics. By strengthening both mental and emotional well-being, student-athletes are better prepared to meet challenges in sports, academics, and everyday life.

College Counseling
for Student-Athletes

Students interested in competing in college receive individualized guidance throughout the recruiting process. Working alongside coaches and families, a specialist within Milton's College Counseling Office helps students identify schools that are the right academic, athletic, and personal fit. From understanding recruiting timelines and communicating with college coaches to preparing application materials and navigating NCAA requirements, students receive thoughtful support that keeps academics at the center of every decision.

Academic Skill Development for Athletes

Balancing practices, competitions, travel, and rigorous coursework requires strong organization and study habits. Milton's Academic Skills Center works with student-athletes to develop strategies for time management, executive functioning, note-taking, test preparation, and effective learning.

Whether students need ongoing coaching or occasional support during a busy athletic season, they have resources that help them stay confident and successful in the classroom.
