The Milton Academy sailors are no longer just national champions; they are world champions having won the 2002 British Schools Dinghy Racing Association (BSDRA) Team Racing Championship earlier this summer.
Milton sailors Charlie Enright ’02, Erin Morley ’03, Rip Hale ’02, Merebea Danforth ’02 and Aubrey Mayer ’03 flew to England in early July to compete against 13 British sailing teams. After two days of fierce competition, the Milton Academy team finished first just ahead of teams from Sevenoaks, Canford and St. Helen’s.
The competition’s chief umpire and Sevenoaks School coach, Bruce Hebbert, commended the Milton team on its tight teamwork and excellent communication skills.
Milton Academy earned the chance to compete in the BSDRA Team Racing Championship after winning the Interscholastic Sailing Association’s 2002 Baker Championship this past spring.
