Parent Engagement
As a parent of a Milton Academy Lower School student, you are officially a member of the Lower School Parent Association (LSPA)! At Milton, the LSPA welcomes new parents, organizes events for parents to come together as a community, and supports the faculty, staff and administration in maximizing the learning experience for our children. We invite and encourage you to become involved!
Volunteer Opportunities
Class Reps
Two representatives per grade, one per class, will act as liaisons between the LSPA Executive Committee and parents. Class Reps help distribute communication to the class from the LSPA or teachers when needed, organize social events for the class and act as an additional ‘welcome’ to new families.
Admissions Tour Guides
Parent tour guides call upon their experience with the School, knowledge of our campus, and perspective as Milton parents to share information with families who are interested in learning more about our School. Our tour guides are a welcoming presence in the office, greeting families, walking them around campus, answering questions, and providing a glimpse into the Milton community. We are looking for volunteers who can commit to a regular time or who can substitute in a pinch.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Parent Engagement Committee
The Mission of the Lower School DEIJ (LS DEIJ) Parent Engagement Team is to support the Lower School DEIJ Implementation Team in the implementation of all diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives by (1) planning pertinent parent education experiences that align with our diversity work with students and needs of parent body, (2) identifying opportunities for new or updated school policies or practices that help ensure an inclusive experience for all Lower School families, and (3) encouraging parent engagement in these efforts.
Parent Communications Group
The Communications subcommittee helps ensure that families are given clear, timely information about LSPA events, and supports communication about school initiatives and policies as needed. The subcommittee welcomes families’ feedback about how best to provide information in a convenient way to our diverse community.
Lower School Speaker Series
The LSPA identifies speakers to offer meaningful and relevant programming for the parent community.
Lower School Events
Annual events include the Fall Festival, Skating party, Book fair, Parent Socials and the See You in September Picnic. In addition, this committee organizes appreciation events to recognize our faculty throughout the year. All LSPA events are planned and run by even more parents, volunteering their time.
Lower School Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is a group of 13 parents that meets regularly to support Lower School leadership to build community, align parents with school initiatives, discuss ways to keep communication flowing between faculty, staff, parents and students, and to execute events throughout the year to celebrate our community.
