Our Priorities

In these extraordinary times, your investment in Milton Academy sustains us.

Our funding priorities include:

The Milton Fund

By providing current use operating revenue, the Milton Fund increases the School’s ability to seize new opportunities and address emerging needs. Gifts are used in the year they’re given, making an impact on the lives of today’s students.

Endowment

Endowments are what keep institutions strong for generations. Our annual spending rate, based on a 12-quarter rolling average formula, ensures endowment dollars support the operating budget while the principal is reinvested for the future. Milton’s endowment is valued at $325 million as of June 30, 2020. Our current 4.45% spending rate means the endowment will provide $13.4 million in operating budget funds, fueling our mission.

Facilities

Campus improvements are designed to match the caliber of our academic programs and meet the needs of modern teaching and learning. Our biggest endeavor ahead is relocating Cox Library to Wigglesworth Hall in a move that will put the library at the center of student life, providing more opportunities for both independent and group study. Construction is slated to begin the summer of 2022, with the new library opening in the fall of 2023.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Milton’s core values include providing an environment where all students and adults feel welcome, safe, and able to express their identities. DEI funding supports ongoing anti-racism and anti-bias work at Milton.
